About this degree
Graduates of the Master of International Tourism and Hospitality Management will:
- Demonstrate an understanding of contemporary theories and issues within international tourism and hospitality management and of the relationships between the government, non-government and not-for-profit sectors in service industries.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and methods that underpin research within the fields of international tourism and hospitality management.
The Master of International Tourism and Hospitality Management helps graduates prepare for the next step in their career within the dynamic work environment of the local/global tourism and hotel industry. You will develop essential managerial-level skills that include, advanced business acumen, strategic thinking, high-level people management, leadership skills, resilience, empathy and specialised industry knowledge, with an emphasis on sustainability principles.
Learning through flexible course delivery options such as on-campus or online modes, you will deepen your core business skills in areas such as revenue management, finance, marketing, technology integration and digitisation, developing insights and understanding of how to lead in a culturally diverse context.
As a graduate, you will emerge as a confident leader, equipped to navigate the complex issues and challenges facing the local/global tourism and hotel industry.
This program also offers a dissertation pathway option. The dissertation pathway option allows students to focus knowledge on an area of interest through a substantive research project that can provide a pathway to a higher degree by research for candidates who meet the minimum qualifying Grade Point Average (GPA).

Award requirements
For the award of Master of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (MIntTourHospMgt), you must successfully Complete 160 credit points for one of the following:
- 160 credit points for all Pathway 1 - duration 1 year (80CP of study and 80CP for prior learning), or
- 160 credit points for all Pathway 2 - duration 1.5 years (120CP of study and 40CP for prior learning), or
- 160 credit points for all Pathway 3 - duration 2 years
This degree may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words "This award was achieved with Distinction" will be recorded on the testamur.
Exit points
To be eligible to exit with the 3117 - Graduate Certificate in International Tourism and Hospitality Management award, you must acquire 40 credit points for Foundation Module and/or Core Module courses.
To exit, you should apply for a program transfer.

Entry requirements
To be eligible for admission to the Master of International Tourism and Hospitality Management, you must have one of:
1 year program (80CP):
- Four years full-time (or equivalent) ^relevant professional experience that includes two years ^relevant management professional experience; OR
- a recognised Bachelor degree (or higher) in a *related discipline with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 using a 7.0 scale; AND a minimum two years full-time (or equivalent) ^relevant professional experience.
1.5 year program (120CP):
- A recognised Bachelor degree (or higher) in a *related discipline with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 using a 7.0 scale; OR
- a recognised Bachelor degree (or higher) in any discipline that includes a minimum of 40 credit points of courses related to Tourism and/or Hospitality with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 using a 7.0 scale.
2 year program (160CP):
- A recognised Bachelor degree (or higher) in any discipline with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 using a 7.0 scale; OR
- three years full-time (or equivalent) ^relevant professional experience; OR
- a combination of alternative admission criteria such as formal, informal, and non-formal learning deemed to be equivalent to the above.
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:
- A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0
- OR a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL
- OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19)
- OR no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only)
- OR a minimum overall score of 176 (no score less than 169) on C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English) or C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English)
- OR an overall score of 58 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 50.
English test results must be no more than two years old.
International students who successfully complete the Direct Entry Program (DEP) will satisfy the English Language requirements for this Griffith degree.
The Direct Entry Program (DEP) is not available for Domestic students.
