Work with us

At Open Universities Australia, we offer you a great place to work where you're valued and rewarded for your expertise, dedication and talent.

We attract and retain the best people, and give them a colourful, diverse and cultural place to work in that’s centrally located with fantastic facilities.

Students and universities are at the heart of what we do and the decisions we make.

We’ve got personality and passion. We tend to ask why and why not? Rather than accept average, we look to change the things that really matter.

We’re bold too and future focused. We set new industry standards for online higher education.

Our purpose is grounded in the idea that education can change peoples’ lives…which is a pretty awesome thing to be a part of!

Why join us?

Purpose at the heart of all we do

We passionately believe that education has the power to transform lives and should be accessible to everybody.

We exist to empower learners to access the education that is right for them, and to serve every Australian throughout their lifelong learning journey.

What we offer

A diverse, unified workplace

Join a group of people from diverse backgrounds with a shared belief in the power of education. Our culture is built upon optimism and fuelled by the energy and enthusiasm of those who are a part of it.

Innovation is more than a buzzword to us—we believe it's key to making student experiences easier and more enjoyable.

Health and wellbeing

From yearly health assessments and skin checks to regular flu shots, discounted private health insurance, access to financial services and special gym memberships, we provider OUAers with tools to prioritise their physical, mental and financial wellbeing.

Employees can access support anytime via our employee assistance program Uprise or the Calm mindfulness app. In addition, we bring to life our commitment to wellbeing in office with healthy breakfasts, snacks and regular wellbeing activities.

Flexibility to do your best work

Our Balanced Working approach acknowledges the value of working in different environments. This entails spending 2 days a week in our conveniently-located Melbourne CBD office, where we come together for collaborative work, ideation, learning, and relationship-building.

The remainder of the week offers you the flexibility to work from home or the office, allowing you to choose the setting that fosters optimal focus and aligns with your lifestyle preferences.

Career and development opportunities

Learning is at the heart of our purpose – and is an integral part of our culture.

We seek to understand your aspirations, and then work with you to find opportunities to gain new skills, knowledge or experience. This may include opportunities through secondments, career development planning, or gaining new skills through formal education.

Last year we celebrated over 20% of OUAers being promoted or moving to a new role within our organisation!

Pay, performance and incentives

Success isn’t possible without creative and dedicated employees. So we recognise you with annual performance-based incentives, as well as other individual forms of recognition and reward.

As a for-purpose organisation, we also offer attractive salary sacrificing benefits where you can arrange car-leasing, and to package items such as rent, mortgages, education, credit card payments and other cost of living expenses to make the most of your post tax salary.

A range of leave options

We know it’s important for you have a break, relax and recharge - or maybe you just need time off for a specific reason.

We offer the option to purchase additional leave, which gives extra flexibility to manage family, study, big travel plans or other commitments as you need it.

We also offer ‘Workation’ – if you love travel and would like to extend your time away, a Workation offers you the ability to combine leave with working whilst overseas or interstate.
