Administration study FAQs
Why should I study business administration?
Studying business administration opens doors to a wide range of careers. And when you graduate, you'll have the essential skills to thrive no matter the industry you find yourself in.
Whether you want to climb the corporate ladder or start your own business, a business administration course is the foundation for long-term success. From leadership and decision-making to overseeing operations and driving business growth, you’ll cover it all.
Which administration course should I choose?
Your choice should align with your career goals. Consider the direction you want your professional journey to take.
Do you want to lead teams, oversee operations, and manage projects? A business administration degree will help you develop the broad skillset needed to thrive in management roles. But you could also consider a management and leadership course.
Are you interested in a particular area of business? Marketing, finance, and human resources are all important facets of business. A specialised course in one of these areas can help you gain in-depth expertise in that field and set you on a more targeted career path. You could also consider courses such as an MBA, project management or even accounting.
What will I learn in an administration course?
Expect to cover topics such as:
- Leadership and management
- Organisational behaviour
- Sustainable innovation
- Marketing
- Data management
- Commercial law
- Strategic planning and project management
What are the entry requirements for administration?
Entry requirements for business administration courses vary depending on the course you choose. As a general rule, entry requirements involve an ATAR of 60 or above (for undergraduate courses) or some form of higher education (for postgraduate courses).
However, there are single undergraduate subjects you can study without entry requirements. There are also qualifications in related disciplines that you can start without needing an ATAR, including in business more generally.
If you’re unsure about the right course for you or need guidance on creating a pathway, book a consultation to get tailored advice.
What career opportunities can I explore after studying administration?
When you study a business administration course, you’ll graduate with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue various career paths, such as:
- Business manager
- Entrepreneur
- Business analyst
- Project manager
- Team leader
- General manager
The skills learned in a business administration degree are applicable in almost every industry, giving you flexibility and growth opportunities in both small and large organisations.
