Career opportunities

After you graduate you shall be qualified to work in a varied field of industries including mining/resource extraction, transportation, food processing, agricultural automation and health and as a Process Control Engineer or Instrumentation Control and Automation Engineer. Other career industry-based specialisations that can follow from graduation are Rail Signal Engineer and Food Engineer.

Professional recognition

As a graduate of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program, you will be eligible to apply for graduate membership with Engineers Australia as a Graduate Professional Engineer. After gaining experience working in your field in industry, you can apply for Stage 1 Professional Engineer (MIEAust), and after this for chartered status as a Professional Engineer (CPEng); and with extensive career experience Executive Engineer (ExecEng) accreditation. You will also have the opportunity to work overseas, with your accreditation recognised in the countries that are signatories to the Washington Accord. When you become an experienced MIEAust, you can apply for RPEQ or other Australian State legislated registration schemes, or as a chartered professional engineer be similarly accredited (RPEQ etc.) and apply for Australian National Engineering Registration.
