The Bachelor of Arts (OUA) at Macquarie University is a distinctive course that equips its graduates with knowledge and skills that can be applied in any career or in further study. No other course offers as much flexibility and a wide range of study options as the Bachelor of Arts. You will be given the opportunity to turn your passion into a career while developing a strong set of core transferable skills valued by industry and the society. In consultation with industry, the Bachelor of Arts (OUA) places a strong emphasis on skills for success in the 21st century workplace. You will be taught by active researchers, leading academics and award winning teachers.

Make your degree unique and study what interests you. Analyse critically, think creatively and problem-solve at work or in everyday life. Complete foundational studies then tailor your degree with a major. Create a portfolio and build your connections.

Multiply your skills, knowledge and career prospects with a double degree in arts and law. This subject explores cybersecurity as it is managed in the business context. It covers the processes of threat and risk analysis, security policy development, incident prevention and response, issues around privacy, professional codes of conduct, and looks at legislative efforts around the world intended to address privacy and cybersecurity issues. It also looks at the ethical issues that cybersecurity raises, and the ways that this affects how cybersecurity practitioners can operate.Completing this subject will provide you with the opportunity to obtain the Fortinet Cybersecurity Awareness and Technical (NSE 1–3) professional industry certification.

Introduction to Cybersecurity Policies and Practices

This subject engages students with the primary research literature in policies and systems focused on meeting the needs of people with dementia. Factors such as budget, access, equity and culture are considered in appraising the approaches taken by governments and administrations worldwide, which are evaluated in terms of meeting the specific needs of individuals and countries as a whole. Students are assessed both online for the content modules, and in the form of written MyContext assignments requiring the student to directly relate the course material to their individual professional and/or personal context.

Policies and Systems in Dementia 2

This subject examines the effect of policies and systems on the societal impact of dementia, and the effective provision of support, services and resources to people with dementia and the people who care for them, including approaches enabling independent living and optimum health. National approaches to dementia care and health system design are compared and contrasted with respect to current and anticipated needs and financial impact. Students study four modules and a choice of applied modules to tailor their learning to particular interests. Assessments are both online for the content modules, and in the form of written assignments enabling the student to relate the course material to their individual professional and/or personal context.
