About this subject
On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- Critically evaluate dementia-related policies and systems
- Propose strategies for improving policies and systems in dementia
- Describe the experiences of people with dementia and their families, in relation to dementia-related policies and systems
- Critically examine the evidence base underpinning innovations in dementia-related policy and systems
- Module 1: Influencing Policy and Systems
- Module 2: Dementia in Low and Middle Income Countries
- Module 3: Global Approaches to Aged Care Policies and Systems
- Module 4: Sustainable Change and Dementia Care
- Module 5: Dementia, design and built environments
This subject engages students with the primary research literature in policies and systems focused on meeting the needs of people with dementia. Factors such as budget, access, equity and culture are considered in appraising the approaches taken by governments and administrations worldwide, which are evaluated in terms of meeting the specific needs of individuals and countries as a whole. Students are assessed both online for the content modules, and in the form of written MyContext assignments requiring the student to directly relate the course material to their individual professional and/or personal context.

- TAS-APD-GDI-2025 - Graduate Diploma of Advanced Practice (Dementia)
- TAS-APD-MAS-2025 - Master of Advanced Practice (Dementia)

You must either have successfully completed the following subject(s) before starting this subject, or currently be enrolled in the following subject(s) in a prior study period; or enrol in the following subject(s) to study prior to this subject:
