This unit looks at the approaches for calculating and reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and lifecycle emissions at national, entity and even product level. The first part presents the elements of rigorous GHG and energy reporting methodologies using the Australian National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme as a case study. The second part covers the concepts and methodologies related to life cycle assessment (LCA). Greenhouse Gas Reporting and Life Cycle Assessment

This subject will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary environmental health concepts and examine the environmental and ecological determinants of health within the framework of national and international policy. Students undertaking this course will acquire valuable insights into the intricate relationship between our health and the environment, including the potential impacts of climate change and the benefits of environmental sustainability. You will develop skills in investigating potential pollutants and hazards of local and global concern, including an introduction to the field of toxicology. You will explore ways of assessing environmental health risks, and how to manage these risks through appropriate legislation and regulation. We emphasise the principles and good practices of effective risk communication and community engagement while reviewing lessons learned in public health emergencies. While exploring many of the upstream forces that affect environmental health, including community design, transportation, and energy, we reflect on the collaborative role of public health in enhancing environmental health outcomes.

Environmental Health

This unit addresses the scientific, technological and policy aspects of global warming. This is a global environmental issue that has potentially major implications for all life on earth, including human society. In recent years the subject of global warming has produced an intense international debate over the scientific basis of the measurements and predictions. Climate Change Science and Policy

This is a unit about energy management and in particular, how to minimise energy use, without reducing services, by using energy more efficiently and by reducing waste. An energy audit plays a large role in informing the energy management process. The unit delivers knowledge surrounding the process of implementing energy management programs in commercial and industrial companies. The unit begins with a general description of energy management programs and the framework and standards for implanting such programs before introducing some of the tools and techniques of energy management, including energy auditing and energy data analysis. This is a unit about energy sources and how they are utilised to produce power for human society.
