Early Childhood Professional Experience 2: Planning for Writing, Assessment and Reporting

About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. explain and apply understanding of the theories and practice of writing
    2. critically reflect on writer identity and compositional processes and how these apply in a learning environment
    3. create and justify a sequence of lessons for writing in a specific context, using a range of learning, teaching and assessment strategies to modify teaching practice and support all learners
    4. examine the progression of developing evidence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers in a prepared digital professional portfolio
    5. employ effective communication skills, maintain student safety and meet ethical, legislative, administrative and organisational requirements as you plan, teach, assess and evaluate programs in 3-5 year old settings
    6. demonstrate professional practices, knowledge, teaching strategies and skills that support effective learning and teaching, and inform the creation and maintenance of positive learning environments for meeting the diverse needs, wellbeing and developing agency of children

  • CUR-MTE-MAS-2024 - Master of Teaching (Early Childhood Education)

Prior study

You must either have successfully completed the following subject(s) before starting this subject, or currently be enrolled in the following subject(s) in a prior study period; or enrol in the following subject(s) to study prior to this subject:

Please note that your enrolment in this subject is conditional on successful completion of these prerequisite subject(s). If you study the prerequisite subject(s) in the study period immediately prior to studying this subject, your result for the prerequisite subject(s) will not be finalised prior to the close of enrolment. In this situation, should you not complete your prerequisite subject(s) successfully you should not continue with your enrolment in this subject. If you are currently enrolled in the prerequisite subject(s) and believe you may not complete these all successfully, it is your responsibility to reschedule your study of this subject to give you time to re-attempt the prerequisite subject(s).

Additional requirements

  • Placement requirements - This subject includes a 3-week professional experience placement in a school. Placements are undertaken on a full-time basis in a continuous block at the specified time. Please note that all relevant, valid working with children checks and clearances must be provided as requested prior to commencement of the placement.
  • Software requirements - Access to Microsoft Office or a unit approved alternative, Access to video creation and editing software.

Study load
