About this degree
Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the broad body of knowledge in leadership and management including recent developments in theory and practice, and how it relates to the policing and security context.
- Demonstrate mastery of the key theoretical underpinnings in leadership and management in policing and security, be able to reflect critically on these, and on their impact on professional police and security practice.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply established leadership and management theories to the policing context and critically analyse the application of these to personal, professional and organisational practice.
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of the key ethical and professional issues associated with management and leadership in policing and security, and capacity to assume a leadership role in promoting ethical practice in organisational settings.
- Demonstrate mastery of the communication and technical research skills to justify and interpret theoretical propositions, methodologies, conclusions and professional decisions to a variety of audiences including police, security personnel and other stakeholders.
- Technical and communication skills to design, evaluate, implement, analyse and theorise about developments that contribute to professional practice or scholarship in leadership in policing.

Entry requirements
- Applicants for admission to the Master of Leadership and Management (Policing and Security) degree: hold an undergraduate degree in a related area, or have qualified for an equivalent award, OR
- have completed the requirements of the Graduate Diploma in Leadership and Management (Policing and Security) or subjects deemed equivalent by the Course Director. Applicants for admission to the Executive Masters in International Police Leadership: hold an undergraduate degree in a related area, or have qualified for an equivalent award, OR
- have completed the requirements of the Canadian Police College Executive Development Program, or equivalent program as approved by the Course Director. Additionally, a number of police jurisdictions have credit arrangements with the Australian Graduate School of Policing and Security, and prospective applicants should discuss these with the Course Director.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) and credit for current competencies will be granted to eligible applicants.
