About this degree
On completion of the program, graduates should be able to:
- Critically evaluate the scope of contemporary public health practice within an interdisciplinary context.
- Function effectively as a team member including behaving in an ethical and culturally safe manner when interacting with clients, other professionals, and the broader community.
- Communicate ways of working respectfully and collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities in public health practice, and culturally and linguistically diverse peoples and communities.
- Strategically utilize skills and theoretical knowledge to evaluate and communicate health information.
- Select and apply relevant health promotion and health protection concepts to promote population health through mediating, advocating, and enabling changes in behavioral, social, economic, cultural, and physical environments.
- Promote efficient and equitable gains in population health by advocating appropriate policy, legislation, regulation, governance, and/or fiscal measures.
- Upskill with the Graduate Diploma of Public Health and contribute to public health solutions, practice and research. Study the social, behavioural, and environmental determinants of health, as well as epidemiology and different health systems. Learn to apply relevant health promotion and health protection concepts to improve population health through advocating and enabling changes in economic, cultural and physical environments. Entry requirements
- Completed a 3-year or 4-year bachelor degree, or equivalent, in the area of health with a 4.8 GPA or higher; or completed a 3-year or 4-year bachelor degree, or equivalent, in a different discipline with a 4.8 GPA or higher, and completed 1 year of full-time work experience in a healthcare setting; or completed UniSQ's Graduate Certificate of Public Health with a 4.8 GPA or higher. Proof of meeting the English Language Proficiency requirements is also required.
- Exemptions/credit will be assessed based on the UniSQ Credit and Exemption Procedure. Claims for credit for previous study should be submitted prior to or at the time of enrolment. Each claim will be assessed on individual merit in line with UniSQ policy.
