About this degree
The Graduate Certificate in Digital Health is designed to ensure its students will develop an evidence-based foundation of expert knowledge and a sound understanding of relevant concepts and application of specialised skills to suit the health industry. Graduates of the Certificate in Digital Health will have advanced knowledge and skills in the fundamentals of health data, information technology, data science, analytics and programming.
Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Digital Health should be able to:
- LO1 Apply advanced knowledge and skills to use specialised technologies and techniques to collect, analyse, interpret, evaluate and report meaningful data required to support decision making at any level within the health data supply chain;
- LO2 Critically analyse critically various options for digital concept representation, including SNOMED-CT, LOINC, ICD (International Classification of Diseases) and DRG (Diagnostic Related Groups) fundamentals, and evaluate the implications for data collection, storage retrieval and use.;
- LO3 Demonstrate advanced cognitive, technical and communication skills that skills that promotes the ethical use of data and data integrity at every data point to ensure patient safety and dignity of the person.
The Graduate Certificate in Digital Health will help you develop an evidence-based foundation of digital health, and a sound understanding of the relevant concepts and application of digital health technologies to suit the health industry. You also will learn how to make ethical decisions regarding the adoption of various digital health technologies into the future.
This contemporary course will address rapidly, ever-changing digital health technologies, and examine the use of these technologies within the industry. The curriculum is both multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary and will bring together current and new knowledge from health and digital health professionals. You’ll gain skills and knowledge in digital health technologies that you can apply directly to your work.

To qualify for the Graduate Certificate in Digital Health, a student must complete 40 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of the Specified units in Part A:
- 30 cp from Health Science units
- 10 cp from a Theology and Philosophy unit

- HLSC506 Strategic Managment in Digital Health Service Delivery (10cp)
- HLSC674 Electronic Health Records, Health Data Exchange and Standards (10cp)

Entry requirements
An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy .
International applicants must also meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy .
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites:
- Bachelor degree (or higher) ; OR
- Submit a resume alongside their formal application, demonstrating suitability for study, and industry experience and/or prior learning over a sustained period.
- International English Language Testing System - Academic (IELTS): Overall score: 6.5 with an individual score of 6.0 in all tests
- Pearson Test of English (PTE): 58 with a minimum of 50 in all four communicative skills
- Test of English as a Foreign Language - Academic (TOEFL): Internet based total of 79 with a minimum of 21 in writing, 18 in speaking, 13 in reading and 12 in listening
- ACU English Language Test: B (65-74%)
- Cambridge Advanced English (CAE): Overall CAE of 176 with a minimum individual score of 169 in all test areas.
If your previous study has equipped you with knowledge, skills or experiences that align with the learning outcomes of units in your new course you may be able to apply for recognition of prior learning and you may be able to complete your course sooner. Speak to your course consultant for more information or to discuss your eligibility. ACU will consider requests for advanced standing based on prior studies to a maximum equivalence of 2 subjects (20cp).
