You can then choose from a curated selection of subjects expanding your knowledge in fields including epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, health service innovation, health informatics and digital health.The program is open to anyone with a health-related bachelor degree, or a bachelor degree in an unrelated area with at least two years&#39; experience in the health workforce. If you already have a health-related Graduate Certificate, you may be eligible for advanced standing into the course to enable you to progress directly to the specialisation component of the degree.Advanced Practice specialisations are designed to develop graduates who can demonstrate leadership and perform independently in the healthcare system. This subject aims to expose you to contemporary management practices in ports. The design of this subject is suited to meet the needs of students at different stages in their careers and at different levels in their organisations. You will learn about the commercial functions of ports, port governance, the role of ports in global supply chains, port development, finance and pricing, port performance management, port competition and marketing, port environmental management, safety and security, application of technology in ports, and strategic port planning. Challenges related to these issues faced by ports and relevant strategies adopted for responding to them are also included.Knowledge from other subjects such as JNB522 Business Logistics and JNB624 Supply Chain Management can be brought into play as you go through this study. For example, logistics and supply chain management has changed the role of a port leading to changes in port management, operation and strategies. This subject also links to JNB739 Strategic Management as strategic management skills can be applied to port planning.

Port Management and Strategy

The aim of this subject is to provide an introduction to shipping markets, and to illustrate the strategies, principles and practice of commercial ship management. The subject is arranged in 12 modules. Ship chartering and charterparties are essential elements of commercial ship management and therefore a significant portion of this subject is devoted to these topics. The subject also considers the role of liner shipping and examines liner shipping strategies and operations in contemporary contexts.
