Master of Financial Planning

With Griffith Business School&#39;s Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Political Science and International Relations, you can multiply your career options. In as little as four years, you can graduate with two degrees and a unique skill set that will give you an edge in the employment market.By combining in-depth knowledge and insight into the workings of government with practical business skills, you will be prepared for a future local, state and national governments, non-government organisations and private sector organisations that sectors interact with government agencies. This subject studies the fundamental concepts and principles in finance which serve as the bases for investment analyses and decisions. It explores the trade-off between risk and return as well as the quantitative tools that are essential to analyse this trade-off. The subject is intended to provide students with a general overview of both the context and the content of Investment Planning especially as it relates to Financial Planning in Australia. Students should not enrol in this subject if they have previously completed 2213AFE: Financial Planning 2 at Griffith University.

Financial Planning 2

This subject concerns the identification, analysis, evaluation and treatment of risk. It highlights practical applications of general and life insurance products in developing and implementing personal and small business risk management strategies. In addition to investigating the insurance products available in the market, the subject will cover the structure of the insurance industry, its regulation, insurance law and the skills necessary to provide risk management and insurance advice to clients. Prerequisite: AFE122 Financial Planning 1. Students should not enrol in this subject if they have previously completed 2202AFE: Risk Management and Insurance at Griffith University.

This subject aims to advance students&#39; knowledge and generic skills required to be effective in financial planning including an introduction to the FASEA Code of Ethics. Students are exposed to professional communication and connecting with professionals through networking events on and off campus including e.g. FAAA Conference, local chapter meetings of professional associations, and professional development events with industry partners. Prerequisite: AFE124 Professional Identity Part 1. Please note that like AFE124, this is a 5 Credit Point subject. Students should not enrol in this subject if they have previously completed 1204AFE_Y2: Professional Awareness Part 2 at Griffith University.

Professional Awareness Part 2

This subject aims to develop students&#39; knowledge and generic skills required to be effective in financial planning. Students may be involved in interviewing a financial planner, auditing their own skill level, creating an action plan to improve skills and commencing career planning. This is a 5 Credit Point subject; it is intended that students will go onto complete AFE125 Professional Awareness Part 2 (also worth 5 Credit Points) upon completion. This is a restricted subject for students in the Bachelor of Applied Financial Advice. Students should not enrol in this subject if they have previously completed 1204AFE_Y1: Professional Awareness Part 1 at Griffith University.
