In this subject, students will &#39;experience&#39; the world of travel and tourism through the writings of travellers, through the work of social researchers and through their own travel experiences. The main focus of this subject will be the human dimension of tourism, the motivation to travel, the experience of travel and impacts on host communities. Travel and Tourism in Society

This subject outlines the structure of the tourism system, the placement of events, the multiplicity of sectors and industries within those systems. Students are introduced to models of tourism, the global and regional dimensions of tourism and event developments. The subject also provides an introduction to tourism for sustainable development through discussions of the economics of tourism and events and associated sociocultural and environmental issues. Introduction to Tourism Systems

Note: If you study this subject in Winter, the subject will be a shorter duration (5 weeks) and will require at least 20 hours of study per week.This intensive subject explores the interplay between economics and sustainability. Students will examine the explanatory power and policy impact of the dominant neoclassical economics paradigm in order to understand its benefits and limitations in relation to sustainability. Approach the topic of sustainability from an economic standpoint. Investigate some of the economic tools and techniques decision-makers draw on to address sustainability problems. Address where climate change fits into this discussion.

Economics of Sustainability

This unit focuses on you as a developing professional in a changing future world of work. It requires you to consider your current experiences, knowledge, and skills in relation to those valued by employers in your discipline or field. As part of your reflective development, you will investigate and analyse your graduate industry or study area, identify current job profiles, and complete a series of career learning experiences that offer you personalised opportunities to build evidence for a number of employability skills. Building Employability Skills

This subject assists students to clarify their career aspirations and goals and supports them in planning the development of skills they will need for future career success.  Students will complete a series of four online modules.  Through the subject, students will undertake self-assessment activities, create a future career development plan and learn to use tools which will help them to showcase their capabilities through an online Career Learning e-Portfolio.
