Our Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security will equip you with a deep understanding of scientific theories and practices in the field, empowering you to develop and communicate effective solutions to cyber security challenges. The program emphasises professional integrity and ethical conduct, ensuring you can design and implement sustainable, inclusive cyber security strategies. Pathways  After completing the Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security, you are able to apply to the on-campus Master of Cyber Security and carry over all credits achieved. You will be exempted from completing the four (4) courses (48 credit points) completed in the Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security and will be required to complete an additional twelve (12) courses (144 credit points) as specified in the program structure in order to qualify for the MC159P25 Master of Cyber Security degree. Credit outside of the above arrangements will be assessed consistently with the RMIT University credit policy . The Master of Financial Technology offers a qualification that provides advanced studies in modern technology with knowledge of the global financial market. The subject begins with a broad examination of cybercrime and moves to a specific focus on cyber fraud. The subject explores contemporary criminological theoretical approaches to explaining cyber fraud, analyses offender methodologies and examines cyber fraud victimology. The subject addresses contemporary approaches to prevention and enforcement in Australia and across the world. The role of relevant government, law enforcement, regulatory agencies and the corporate and private sector in the prevention and detection of cyber fraud is addressed.

Understanding and Preventing Cyber Fraud

Protective Security relates to security governance (including supporting a positive security culture), information security (including cyber security), personnel security (including employees and contractors) and physical security (providing a safe and secure physical environment for an organisation’s people, information and assets). This fully online subject provides you with a thorough understanding of the concepts and practical applications of Protective Security. Protective Security

This subject explores the information security issues arising from technology use in the health care environment. Consideration is given to legal and ethical concepts and issues, with an emphasis on the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of health information. Students are provided the opportunity to apply their learning by undertaking a risk analysis and mitigation process related to the core business of a health organisation. Security standards and systems are discussed in context to protecting personal health information, including the limitations of the technology to support this.

Digital Health Privacy and Security Issues

The subject was formerly known as PICX8950 Strategic SimulationThis subject provides students with an opportunity to apply the knowledge they have gain throughout their program of study to a real world crisis. By participating in a dynamic simulation, students will be required to solve problems and find solutions to real world challenges. Students will be assigned to an executive team that includes students with different skill sets and knowledge. These executive teams may include strategists, intelligence analysts, criminologists, counter terrorism experts, and cyber security analysts. Depending on their specialization, students will take one of these roles. Their mission will be to formulate solutions by employing the academic, research and analytical skills they acquired throughout their program. The student will be required to make policy recommendations based on his assessment of the situation.

Crisis Simulation

This subject is previously known as PICX849 Cyber Policing and Intelligence in AustraliaCyberspace has become a major site for different forms of warfare and coercion, ranging from cyber disruption, through information compromise, all the way to covert information operations on a national level. In this unit students learn how robust cyber intelligence can be used to enhance the often-reactive posture of cyber security. This includes understanding the role of cyber intelligence and counterintelligence within the broad, integrated configuration of cyber-security. Students will learn fundamental intelligence collection and analysis principles and apply them to a cyber-security context.

Examine cyber policing from an intelligence-led policing perspective by looking at cybercrime, jurisdictions and extradition, information sharing, collaboration and cyber policing challenges

This subject is previously known as PICX848 Applied Cyber Security.
In today’s world, organisations must be able to protect and defend against threats in cyberspace. This subject provides a solid understanding of the theory and practice used to manage information security on computer systems and networks. Students will be exposed to multiple cyber security technologies, processes and procedures, learn how to analyse threats, vulnerabilities and risks present in these environments, and develop appropriate strategies to mitigate potential cyber security problems. Topics include: an overview of computer and communications security, risk assessment, human factors, identification and authentication, access controls, malicious software, software security and legal and ethical issues. Students will have the opportunity to use tools and software commonly used to attack/protect networks  in order to develop workplace skills. .

The unit was previously known as PICX840 Cyber Crime and Cyber PolicingCyber crime refers to an array of criminal activity including offences against computer data and systems, computer-related offences, content offences, and copyright offences. While early computer hackers were more interested in youthful exploration, modern cybercrime is increasingly about criminal profit and this is reflected in the involvement of transnational organised crime groups. This subject will provide students with detailed understanding about the different types of cybercrime, the perpetrators, and investigation techniques.

Investigate the motivations, methodology and the victims of cyber crime by studying past and current cyber threats and future trends in high tech crime. Follow the involvement of transnational organised crime groups and profit trails.
