Diploma in Health Sciences 

Study area: Health & medical science

Who offers it? La Trobe University

What makes it special? Consider this one-year diploma your shortcut into a health services career. After graduating you can apply immediately for entry-level roles. But it’s also a fantastic no ATAR pathway into the Bachelor of Health Sciences. You’ll study exactly the same subjects as a first-year bachelor degree student, which means you can enter the degree directly as a second-year student. 

Is it available online? It sure is. You can study this degree flexibly online through Open Universities Australia.  

What are the career opportunities? Qualify for a medical assistant role in a small clinic (think a GP, dentist or chiropractic office). With further study, your job options open up across public health, nutrition and health promotion.

Diploma of Applied Technologies (Cyber Security)

Study area: IT & computer science

Who offers it? The University of Tasmania 

What makes it special? This diploma is worth considering if you want to future proof your career by learning about cyber security. In just 12 months, you’ll cover all the essentials, including how to keep information secure, how to monitor for threats, and how to respond to critical incidents.

Is it available online? Yes, it’s available 100% online through Open Universities Australia.

Master of Clinical Psychology (Post registration)

Study area: Psychology & mental health

Who offers it? Australian Catholic University 

What makes it special? This highly specialised postgraduate qualification is designed for registered psychologists who want to apply for endorsement in clinical psychology. Importantly, it’s approved by the Australia Psychology Accreditation Council. 

Is it available online? It’s predominantly online, though you'll need to go to either Melbourne or Strathfield to complete a single four day on-campus teaching block. You're also required to complete 500 hours of supervised clinical placement in a location of your choice.   

What are the career opportunities? Graduates can apply for a clinical psychology registrar program. From there, you can obtain area of practice endorsement in clinical psychology, and work with clients suffering from more complex mental health conditions.

Bachelor of Wine Science

Study area: Science

Who offers it? Charles Sturt University
