• What you'll learn

  Upon successful completion of this subject, the student should be able to:

  1. Practice the skills necessary to function as a vocational rehabilitation counsellor, and in relation to medical rehabilitation and health counselling
  2. Demonstrate understanding of vocational rehabilitation from a workers compensation, motor vehicle and life insurance perspective
  3. Practice skills in assessing clients for return to work and redeployment activities (assessments including initial needs, workplace safety, and vocational and transferable skills)
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of treatment and assessment issues related to illness and disability
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of the issues related to rehabilitation and recovery from physical and psychiatric illness
  6. Demonstrate an understanding of the consequences of reduction of functioning following disability and illness
  7. Demonstrate an understanding of the skills required when working in a health care setting

• TAS-COU-GDI-2024 - Graduate Diploma in Counselling

Prior study

You must either have successfully completed the following subject(s) before starting this subject, or currently be enrolled in the following subject(s) in a prior study period; or enrol in the following subject(s) to study prior to this subject:

• TAS-KHA501-Counselling Skills 1

If you study the prerequisite subject(s) in the study period immediately prior to studying this subject, your result for the prerequisite subject(s) will not be finalised prior to the close of enrolment. In this situation, should you not complete your prerequisite subject(s) successfully you should not continue with your enrolment in this subject. If you are currently enrolled in the prerequisite subject(s) and believe you may not complete these all successfully, it is your responsibility to reschedule your study of this subject to give you time to re-attempt the prerequisite subject(s).
