Upon successful completion of this subject, the student should be able to:
- Assess principles of the quality use of medicines and medication safety
- Outline the extent and types of medication-related problems in the Australian healthcare system
- Differentiate between individual, technical and systemic causes of medication-related problems
- Create practical solutions for reducing medication-related harms in vulnerable populations in diverse settings.
- Module 1: Introduction to medication safety
- Module 2: Type of medication errors
- Module 3: Intravenous errors
- Module 4: Quality use of medicine
- Module 5: Measuring QUM and medicines safety
- Module 6: Polypharmacy and deprescribing
- Module 7: High risk medications
- Module 8: Transitions of care

- Module 10: Indigenous Australians' perspectives
- Module 11: LGBTIQ+ inclusivity
This fully online subject provides you with the knowledge and skills to improve medication safety. The subject introduces you to medication-related problems, along with current practices to reduce these problems in Australian health care.
