About this subject
On successful completion of this subject, the student will be able to:
- Explain and apply best practice principles of a range of ICT management and governance practices to meet the needs of stakeholders.
- Explain and apply best practice principles of information and knowledge management practices to meet the needs of stakeholders.
- Select and apply appropriate tools and techniques for managing ICT systems with the aim of meeting quality, information and governance requirements.
- Create an ICT strategic plan that supports business needs and objectives by working collaboratively with peers and stakeholders.

This subject aims to present a coherent view on the role of knowledge and strategic information management in organisations from a multidisciplinary perspective. Students will gain an appreciation of the sources of information, unstructured and semi-structured knowledge and learn current techniques that permit knowledge and information to be applied to perform organisational activities. This subject will provide students with an understanding of how to strategically manage and govern the ICT function in business organisations. It builds on themes relating to managing ICT as an organisational resource and discusses the ICT function from strategy and governance perspectives. Students will develop skills and knowledge relating to the use of the latest technologies for managing information and knowledge and how to strategically manage and govern the ICT function in business organisations. The subject also emphasises the relationship between theoretical knowledge and its practical application using a real organisation.
