About this subject

  • Upon completion of this subject, the student should be able to:

    1. Appraise the funding models and core concepts of economics, financial and managerial accounting in the Australian health sector.
    2. Evaluate the use of techniques of economics, financial and managerial accounting for cost efficient and effective managerial decisions in health.
    3. Compare public and private funding issues across the acute, primary and aged care sectors.
    4. Argue the ethical and practical budget implications of cost efficiency focusing on cost, safety and quality.
    5. Assess how to improve the application of economics, financial and managerial accounting in the health sector.
