Evidence Based Pharmacotherapeutic Practice

About this subject

  • On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:

    1. Create PICO frameworks to structure pharmacotherapeutic questions.
    2. Collate appropriate evidence-based research using MeSH terms.
    3. Develop techniques to refine search strategies to return more relevant studies.
    4. Critically appraise scientific literature using knowledge of the hierarchy of evidence, sources of bias, and research methodology.

To enrol in this subject you must be accepted into one of the following degrees:

  • TAS-CPH-GDI-2025 - Graduate Diploma of Clinical Pharmacy
  • TAS-CPH-GCE-2025 - Graduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy

Equivalent subjects

You won't be able to enrol into this subject if you've already successfully completed or currently enrolled in the following subject(s) as they are considered anti-requisites due to the similarity of the content.

Additional requirements

  • Other requirements - Teaching Arrangement: 10 hrs weekly self directed learning including online tutorials (live and recorded). We assume that Pharmacists undertaking this subject will have a general knowledge of most of the therapeutic areas covered, as well as have the necessary skills to interpret laboratory and patient data. Some students may need to refresh and revise this knowledge, due to the many different backgrounds and training that our students have.

Study load
