No organisation operates in a vacuum. Developing an appreciation of global issues and the capacity to determine regional or local consequences for organisations is imperative for good leadership and appropriate management. Leaders, therefore, must be cognisant of contemporary issues that are or will impact the organisation, its people and the communities in which they operate. Leaders must make informed decisions as to the most appropriate response to mitigate risk, leverage opportunity and maintain relevance.
As part of a suite of subjects examining leadership and the central function of organisational capability development, the premise of this subject is to generate curiosity about global issues and local consequence for leaders. It aims to connect current affairs to the development of capability to respond appropriately to identified or possible consequences. The subject encourages you to think more expansively about contemporary issues, particularly those on a global scale but with local or regional impact utilising learning generated from other subjects in the Leadership and Organisational Capability suite.
