About this subject
On completion of this course students should be able to achieve the following learning outcomes:
1.Critically evaluate the research literature to demonstrate evidence of a sound specialised knowledge of positive education and positive psychology.
2. Apply the findings of research literature within the field to the analysis of contemporary educational dilemmas particularly complex issues related to students social and emotional wellbeing.
3. Critically analyse case studies of positive education programs in local, Australian and International settings.
4. Design an innovative curriculum model to promote positive education in schools.
5. Critically reflect on leadership styles and initiatives that enable a positive school culture.

This course is an introduction to the field of Positive Education exploring topics related to positive thinking, values, character strengths, resilience, mindfulness and the concept of social and emotional learning programs. It is designed for leaders in schools who wish to evaluate and strengthen established programs or implement new ones. The unit will familiarise students with the fields of Positive Education and Positive Psychology in the context of contemporary schooling. Participants will draw on theoretical literature across both areas to critically evaluate current programs in school settings and apply theoretical knowledge to develop programs in their own school context.
