About this subject
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Critically review national and international trends in health leadership models
- Engage in coaching to support professional development of self and peers
- Apply professional communication and interpersonal skills to engage in courageous conversations to challenge process and practice
- Apply collaborative leadership skills to foster workplace culture and practice
- Engage in reflection to support lifelong learning and self-care
- Application of management and leadership in health practice, leadership theory, institutional frameworks to support decision making in the complex health arena, national and international trends and influences in health, professional communication skills through coaching to engage in courageous conversations to challenge process and practice, reflection for learning and support of others, consumer representation, diversity and social responsibility, culture and practice and belongingness.
The aim of this course is develop and support student’s contemporary understanding and application of management and leadership in health practice. This will focus on the application of theory and institutional frameworks to support decision making in the complex health arena, which engages multiple stakeholders including various disciplines, consumers and their significant others. Students will examine leadership theory, collaborative practice and courageous role modelling. Students will engage in coaching and reflective practice, and apply learning through practical engagement with management and leadership activities.
