About this subject
At the completion of this course a student should be able to:
- Apply the acute and chronic physiological responses associated with different training modalities.
- Formulate and critique training programs designed to enhance different physical capacities for various sports and competition levels.
- Appraise key issues related to strength and conditioning training programs
- Employ a range of communication skills to enhance the athlete/coach/team learning environment.
- Anaerobic and aerobic training principles
- Long-term athlete development
- Performance diagnostics
- Periodisation
- Developing athletic attributes
This course will provide an advanced examination of physiological adaptions associated with various forms of athletic programming. Reflecting current trends in programming and exercise prescription, this course will also explore evidence based practice designed to enhance the development of different athletic attributes within various athletic settings. As part of this course, students will learn and demonstrate practical skills associated with the coaching of common resistance training exercises and various communication methods to enhance the athlete learning environment.
