About this subject
On completion of this subject students should be able to achieve the following learning outcomes:
1. Transfer complex knowledge and ideas in the speciality of mental health care, promotion and prevention to a variety of audiences.
2. Harness information and opportunities, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team, to provide effective early intervention strategies for the client with mental ill-health.
3. Use highly developed leadership and management skills to formulate mental health care plans and pathways at the primary and public health level.
4. Communicate effectively and negotiate confidently with clients and their families from culturally and linguistically diverse populations to achieve optimal outcomes in mental healthcare.
5. Apply advanced mental health practice and knowledge that enhances their capacity to work safely and effectively.
6. Combine research and reflective practice to contribute to the professional development of others and to make informed complex clinical decisions in the context of mental health.

This subject examines current contemporary practices in the delivery of complex inter-professional care for people diagnosed with mental health issues. Emphasis on the concepts of promotion, prevention and early intervention will be considered. This subject explores concepts of leadership and management in the context of the development of care from both local and population health perspectives. It enables mental health practitioners and leaders of care to develop strategies to address complex health care alternatives.
