About this subject

  • Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

    1. demonstrate effective cognitive and communication skills, speaking to diverse audiences;
    2. script and deliver effective speech presentations on their individual fields of knowledge; and
    3. prepare audio/audio-visual texts and utilise technologies to enhance oral presentations, face-to-face and online.

  • Equipment requirements - Students will require: a computer with fairly good broadband internet access; a webcam, or a digital video camera and a microphone with recording ability (many new computers have a built-in webcam and microphone and the software to use them); Microsoft Word or a similar word-processing package; the ability to save a document as .pdf; and Microsoft PowerPoint (or another presentation package).
