• What you'll learn

  Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:

  1. demonstrate and apply the technical skills and knowledge involved in criminological research;
  2. critically evaluate different research methods, with an aim toward choosing the most appropriate method for a situation;
  3. apply autonomy and judgement in recognising and assessing ethical issues associated with conducting research within the criminal justice system; and
  4. identify the procedures needed to negotiate research access to individuals, communities, institutions and data.

Entry requirements

Part of a degree

To enrol in this subject you must be accepted into one of the following degrees:

Core

• UNE-CRM-DEG-2024 - Bachelor of Criminology

Elective

• UNE-LGS-DEG-2024 - Bachelor of Legal Studies

Prior study

You must either have successfully completed the following subject(s) before starting this subject, or currently be enrolled in the following subject(s) in a prior study period; or enrol in the following subject(s) to study prior to this subject:

• UNE-CRIM104-Deviance
• UNE-CRIM190-Crime in Rural Communities
