About this subject
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- critically discuss the accessibility and usability issues which arise in order to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners;
- identify potential barriers to learning in education, training or workplace settings;
- apply the design principles of Universal Design for Learning and User Experience to address issues of accessibility or usability; and
- describe a range of software and hardware solutions that can address key barriers to learning.
- Topics will be available to enrolled students in the subjects Learning Management System site approximately one week prior to the commencement of the teaching period.
Digital learning environments should be accessible for all students, regardless of their abilities.
Studying this subject, you will examine how digital technology can be used to support accessibility and usability in education, training or workplace settings.
In this subject you will focus on the employment of Universal Design for Learning and User Experience (UX) design principles to support and enhance learning. You will also explore a range of software and hardware solutions that can be used to address potential barriers to learning.
Assessment 1: Online Quiz. Formative Activities; activities may include completion of quizzes, creation of infographics or instructional materials that benefit other learners. 1125 words (equivalent). Relates to Learning Outcomes 1-4;
Assessment 2: Group Exercise. Collaborative Activities; activities include online discussions, collaborative creation of shared resources, and exploration of topics meant to support Project work. 1875 words (equivalent). Relates to Learning Outcomes 1-4;
Assessment 3: Project; an applied project on a negotiated topic. 4500 words (equivalent). Relates to Learning Outcomes 1-4;- Assessment 1: Formative Activities; activities may include completion of quizzes, creation of infographics or instructional materials that benefit other learners. (15%)
- Assessment 2: Group Exercise. Collaborative Activities; activities include online discussions, collaborative creation of shared resources, and exploration of topics meant to support Project work (25%)
- Assessment 3: Project; an applied project on a negotiated topic. (60%)
