About this subject
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- demonstrate accuracy and comprehension in listening and reading skills in German language at an upper-intermediate level;
- produce accurate and articulate spoken and written German at an upper-intermediate level;
- communicate autonomously in German at a upper-intermediate level with depth and critical insight on various topics and aspects of German society and culture;
- apply depth of knowledge of German cultural and social norms and German society through communicative outputs; and
- use well-developed cognitive skills to analyse and synthesise information when communicating at an upper-intermediate level.
- Topics will be available to enrolled students in the subjects Learning Management System site approximately one week prior to the commencment if the teaching period.
Building upon your knowledge from the first trimester 300 level German language subject, this subject will further enhance your confidence in your German language skills. You will further develop your competence in reading, writing, understanding and speaking German at an advanced level. While continuing to strengthen communicative competence in spoken German, your focus will be on grammar and translation skills for written language. Your ability to appreciate cultural products of German speaking societies will also be further enhanced. Pursue your goal of becoming a confident communicator in a second language and future proof your career in a global economy where over 130 million people speak German.
Assessment 1: Portfolio. 2500 words (equivalent). Relates to Learning Outcomes 1-5;
Assessment 2: Take Home Exam. It is mandatory to pass this component in order to pass the unit. 2 hrs 15 mins. Relates to Learning Outcomes 1-5;
Assessment 3: Online Quizzes (4 online quizzes (each worth 5%)).1000 words (equivalent). Relates to Learning Outcomes 1, 4.- Assessment 1 - Portfolio - 2500 words (equivalent). A collection of learner-centred, personally relevant tasks and activites that foster receptive and/or productive language skills. (50%)
- Assessment 2 - Take Home Exam - It is mandatory to pass this component in order to pass the unit. 2 hrs 15 mins. (30%)
- Assessment 3 - Online Quizzes (4 online quizzes (each worth 5%) - Covering vocabulary, grammar, listening/reading comprehension). 1000 words (equivalent). (20%)
