About this subject
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- demonstrate competence and accuracy in listening, speaking, reading and writing in French at an advanced level;
- recognise, analyse and use a wide range of advanced grammatical structures;
- demonstrate advanced-level comprehension of authentic texts in French;
- further demonstrate knowledge of the historical and socio-cultural context in which the text and/or film under analysis was produced; and
- use developed cognitive skills to analyse critically and synthesise information when communicating at an advanced level.
- Topics will be available to enrolled students in the subjects Learning Management System site approximately one week prior to the commencement of the teaching period.
Building upon your knowledge from FREN301, this subject will further enhance your confidence in your French language skills. You will develop your competence in reading, writing, understanding and speaking French at an advanced level. After studying this subject you will be able to demonstrate an advanced level comprehension of authentic texts in French. The study of French sources such as literary texts or films will further promote both your language acquisition and your cultural knowledge. You will gain a critical insight into the historical and socio-cultural context in which the texts under analysis were produced. Pursue your goal of becoming a confident communicator in a second language and future proof your career in a global economy where over 275 million people speak French.

- Equipment requirements - Headphones or speakers (required to listen to lectures and other media) Headset, including microphone (highly recommended) Webcam (may be required for participation in virtual classrooms and/or media presentations). All students must have a PC or Mac capable of playing audio. All students must also have a device capable of recording audio and video; they must submit their oral assignments online as an mp3 recording or mp4 video (instructions on how to do this will be provided).
- Software requirements - It is essential for students to have reliable internet access in order to participate in and complete your units, regardless of whether they contain an on campus attendance or intensive school component.
