Administrative Law
About this subject
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- demonstrate an advanced understanding of principles of Administrative Law in Australia;
- identify legal principles, using highly developed cognitive skills to read cases and legislation;
- demonstrate initiative and judgement in applying administrative law principles to solve legal problems, including those involving unfamiliar statutory schemes; and
- communicate clearly and coherently knowledge of administrative law principles.
- Topics will be available to enrolled students in the subjects Learning Management System site approximately one week prior to the commencement of the teaching period.
Administrative law is largely concerned with examining principles that Australian courts apply in determining the legal powers of administrators in the public sector. In this subject you will develop an advanced understanding of those principles including an ability to apply them to hypothetical situations.
Assignment 1: 1750 words. Relates to Learning Outcomes 1-4;
Open Book Examination: 2000 words. Relates to Learning Outcomes 1-4.
There is a supervised exam at the end of the teaching period in which you are enrolled. The exam will be offered online with supervision via webcam and screen sharing technology. Coordinated by UNE Exams Unit.
