About this subject

  • On successful completion of the subject you will be able to:

    1. Examine leadership theory, team development theory, and the role of leaders and teams in the health care context and use these to critically reflect on your own experiences of leadership in the workplace
    2. Analyse and describe leadership ethics, integrity, emotional intelligence and core competencies for effective leaders
    3. Evaluate the role and function of leadership in strategic planning, stakeholder management and workforce development, and the relationship with organisational outcomes
    4. Analyse and explain the relationship between leadership and operational and strategic risk, and leadership and lean thinking
    5. Apply leadership theory and current research to improve skills and performance and promote reflective practice in the context of health care leadership
