About this subject
On successful completion you will be able to:
- Evaluate and assess the nutritional demands of athletic performance in a variety of sports and life stages.
- Assess and apply evidence-based literature regarding current issues and practices in sports nutrition.
- Appraise and critique the evidence and application of food, supplements and sports foods to athletes in a variety of sports and life stages.
- Demonstrate well developed literacy and communication skills suitable for a variety of key stakeholders and audiences.
- Demonstrate an understanding of professional scope of practice in relation to nutrition and where referral to other health professionals is warranted

In this subject you will learn the essentials of human nutrition that improve and sustain optimal performance for sport and exercise for athletes and active individuals. This subject will cover topics including assessment of energy needs, dietary intake and body composition in athletes; training and competition nutrition, sports foods and supplements; nutrition for specific sports and life stages and current issues in sports nutrition.
- 1 x 45-minute online quiz (30%)
- 1,750-word assignment, comprising 500 word literature review (15%) and remaining 1250 word assignment worth 30%. The first part worth 15% comprises the early assessment piece that will occur within the first three weeks of the teaching period. (45%)
- Sports Food review Report 1 x 750 word individual report (25%)
