About this subject

  • On successful completion you will be able to:

    1. Use health information as a dynamic and strategic resource competently by summarising the content, format, and uses of clinical information for patient care, with a particular focus on a client’s hospital record.
    2. Explain the movement of a patient and their record throughout the health service and analyse the flow of health data from collection (at point-of-care) to post discharge.
    3. Apply appropriate health information standards and understanding of key elements of administrative and clinical information systems to describe individual clinical data.
    4. Explain the role(s) of Health Information Managers in the management of a Health Information Service.
    5. Review the operational processes of records management and patient information systems.
    6. Use academic and health industry resources to critically examine and communicate health topics.
    7. Demonstrate high professional ethical standards, participate in multidisciplinary team environments, and demonstrate awareness of the social and ethical implications of professional and personal activities.
