About this subject

  • On successful completion you will be able to:

    1. Demonstrate an understanding of the structures and basic principles of the health classification systems, ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS, used in Australian hospitals.
    2. Examine the medical record to identify and further clarify diagnoses and interventions.
    3. Identify and abstract from the medical record the appropriate conditions, diagnoses and interventions required for the classification process.
    4. Apply the Australian Coding Standards to accurately code inpatient episodes of care.
    5. Apply the standards and conventions of health classification within a time frame that aligns with industry expectations.
