Introduction To Global Studies
About this subject
On successful completion you will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of key themes and issues in Global Politics and the ability to critically analyse them
- Develop connections and working relationships with other students enrolled in the degree, and the ability to work and discuss in teams.
- Critically engage with media representations of global events, position them in relation to scholarly works on the same issues, and begin to develop independent analyses of those issues.

Introduction to Global Studies offers a series of seminars that introduce incoming students enrolled in the Bachelor of Global Studies to key concepts in Global Politics. These seminars will prompt you to think about your own role in the world and the complex processes that shape global politics, and will provide the foundations for your Bachelor of Global Studies. You will explore key themes that underpin the study of global politics including colonisation, power, politics, visual representations, conflict, cooperation, inequality, gender, change, and waste. This course will also give you an opportunity to work in small groups, research together current global events that you find particularly interesting, and present your findings back to the rest of the cohort.
This is a level 1 subject and includes live sessions with the expectation of student attendance and participation.
