About this subject
On successful completion you will be able to:
- Design, develop and deploy networks using IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes.
- Design Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) to user specifications including VLAN when appropriate.
- Implement secure routing protocols to integrate a designed campus network with Internet.

This subject will strengthen and reinforce the design, development and the deployment of a network infrastructure, OSI and TCP/IP Layering architecture, routing protocols, LANs, WLANs and VLANS; network management; network security through ACLs, firewalls; Network virtualization and automation. Labs are designed carefully to broaden your understanding on how to apply theoretical concepts in designing a large-scale network. The content of this subject is to prepare you for Cisco Academy certification. This subject assesses competency and only pass or fail grades are awarded.
- CCNA-1 Module Exams (equiv 1250 words). Students must pass this assessment to be eligible to take the CISCO Certification exams (30%)
- CCNA-2 Module Exams (equiv 1250 words). Students must pass this assessment to be eligible to take the CISCO Certification exams (30%)
- CCNA-3 Module Exams (equiv 1250 words). Students must pass this assessment to be eligible to take the CISCO Certification exams (40%)

What’s a single subject?
Single subjects are the individual components that make up a degree. With Open Universities Australia, you’re able to study many of them as stand-alone subjects, including postgraduate single subjects, without having to commit to a degree.
Each of your subjects will be held over the course of a study term, and they’ll usually require 10 to 12 hours of study each week. Subjects are identified by a title and a code, for example, Developmental Psychology, PSY20007.
How can I use single subjects to get into a full degree?
First, find the degree that you would like to study on our website.
If that degree allows entry via undergraduate subjects, there will be information about this under the Entry Requirements section. You will find a list of 2-4 open enrolment subjects you need to successfully complete to qualify for admission into that qualification.
Once you pass those subjects, you will satisfy the academic requirements for the degree, and you can apply for entry.
