About this subject
On successful completion you will be able to:
- Understand and apply classical management theories and their evolution in current management practices
- Explain, and critically evaluate the theories, principles and concepts that guide the effective management of modern organisations.
- Identify the four management functions (planning, leading, organising and controlling) and explain how they relate to organisational success
- Identify and apply current environmental factors that influence management practices.
- Defining Management and Management Challenges
- Evolution of Management Thinking
- Leading Organizational Change and Innovation
- Ethics and Making Managerial Decisions
- Influencing and Motivating Teams
This subject provides an introduction to the management of organisations. It provides an understanding of evolution of management theory, the fundamental concepts and relevant issues relating to the management of firms operating in both modern local and global environment. This subject explores management as a process of planning, organising, leading and controlling within the context of both individual effect and organisational outcomes.
- Individual Essay (1,000 words equivalent) (20%)
