About this subject
On successful completion you will be able to:
- Demonstrate a familiarity with arts education pedagogies and practices.
- Understand the role of the teacher in supporting young children’s learning in the arts.

In this subject, preservice teachers will explore how young children learn in and through the arts. They will become familiar with pedagogies and practices across the visual arts, 3-dimensional arts, music, creative movement/dance, and drama. Preservice teachers will engage in and reflect upon their own creative processes, with reference to arts-based theories, practices, and research. They will create a teaching resource that connects their learning in this subject with their work-based experience.
- Teaching Resource (2000 words) (50%)
- Task 1A. Arts project – diagnostic task (10%) (200 words) This assessment task will be undertaken within the first 2 weeks of the term. Task 1B. Arts project (1800 words) (40%) (50%)
