About this subject

  • After successfully completing this subject you should be able to:

    1. An overview of the considerations which shape risk assessment and management practices in forensic mental health;
    2. An understanding of the aims and utility of risk assessment and management;
    3. A knowledge of the main risk assessment approaches and an understanding of their application in forensic mental health of the most effective approaches;
    4. A knowledge of risk management strategies and applications in forensic mental health;
    5. Skills in evaluating which assessment tools and methods are appropriate for different situations;
    6. Skills in implementing risk management strategies using assessment information to inform decision making.
