Managing Staffing and Performance
About this subject
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to build relationships with key staffing stakeholders to design and sustain capable workforces. Specifically, on successful completion students should be able to:
- Identify and explain the key principles, theories, tools and techniques that support effective strategic staffing plans including recruitment, selection and performance management.
- Use theory and research to critically evaluate the staffing needs of organisations and design effective strategic staffing plans including recruitment, selection and performance management.
- Communicate innovative HR solutions through effective written communication
This course evaluates student performance for Assurance of Learning purposes for the program learning objective (PLO): Identify and critically analyse sources of data to inform evidence-based decision making.

Students learn to manage the employment value proposition developing an understanding of strategic staffing and designing effective performance management and rewards systems.
Students should not enrol in this subject if they have completed 3020EHR Managing Staffing and Performance, 2009EHR Recruitment and Selection, or 3011EHR Performance Management at Griffith University.
Pre-requisites: EHR202/2002EHR Strategic Human Resource Management and EHR205/2005EHR Organisational Behaviour and Wellbeing.

What’s a single subject?
Single subjects are the individual components that make up a degree. With Open Universities Australia, you’re able to study many of them as stand-alone subjects, including postgraduate single subjects, without having to commit to a degree.
Each of your subjects will be held over the course of a study term, and they’ll usually require 10 to 12 hours of study each week. Subjects are identified by a title and a code, for example, Developmental Psychology, PSY20007.
How can I use single subjects to get into a full degree?
First, find the degree that you would like to study on our website.
If that degree allows entry via undergraduate subjects, there will be information about this under the Entry Requirements section. You will find a list of 2-4 open enrolment subjects you need to successfully complete to qualify for admission into that qualification.
Once you pass those subjects, you will satisfy the academic requirements for the degree, and you can apply for entry.
