About this subject
After successfully completing this subject, you should be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of key concepts and theories in global human resource management relevant to the efficient and effective functioning of global organisations
- Analyse how the global context and national factors affect the core functions of human resource management in global organisations
- Critically analyse literature/theories in global human resource management and apply them to practice in organisations

Rapid changes in society, international relations, technology and communication have led to flexible ways of, and increasing numbers of people, working across global borders. This course provides an opportunity for students to critically analyse global dimensions of the core aspects of human resource management, such as linkages with business strategy, structure, policies and practices; staffing, recruitment, and selection; training and development; rewards management; and performance management. The course examines how human resources are managed and problems solved within and across differing global cultural, political, economic, legislative and technological contexts. The course aims to develop globally engaged and responsible future leaders of GHRM and cross-culturally competent globally mobile employees.
Students should not enrol in the subject if they have completed 3009EHR Global Human Resource Management at Griffith University.

What’s a single subject?
Single subjects are the individual components that make up a degree. With Open Universities Australia, you’re able to study many of them as stand-alone subjects, including postgraduate single subjects, without having to commit to a degree.
Each of your subjects will be held over the course of a study term, and they’ll usually require 10 to 12 hours of study each week. Subjects are identified by a title and a code, for example, Developmental Psychology, PSY20007.
How can I use single subjects to get into a full degree?

If that degree allows entry via undergraduate subjects, there will be information about this under the Entry Requirements section. You will find a list of 2-4 open enrolment subjects you need to successfully complete to qualify for admission into that qualification.
Once you pass those subjects, you will satisfy the academic requirements for the degree, and you can apply for entry.
