About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- describe and discuss sources of information that can be used to determine contextualised student learning needs
- examine and explain theoretical models, structures and processes for reflective and collaborative professional practices for educators
- apply the principles of ethical teacher conduct to action research
- design a professional learning plan that responds to an evaluation of the development of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and supports continued professional learning, growth and well being.

This subject will provide students with knowledge and skills to support transition into being education professionals and will enable undergraduate students to make important decisions about how to approach professional learning and development in order to meet contextualised student learning needs. Students examine how important information about their learners can be obtained to determine group and individual learning needs and reflect on and evaluate their own current expertise and development. The unit examines how to structure personal professional learning that is targeted, collaborative, and aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Graduate Teachers. Students in this unit will also formulate a general plan for their approach to continued personal learning and growth as they transition into becoming committed, skilled, resilient professionals.
