About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- articulate a research topic or problem and carry out a coherent plan for a research/ creative practice project
- find and understand varieties of scholarly literature, materials and sources relevant to the research
- analyse scholarly literature and materials relevant to the research or creative practice and apply findings in the research project plan
- develop scholarly or professional communication skills sufficient to express and manage complex ideas and arguments
- demonstrate advanced understanding of cultural, creative and/or technical aspects of the research area

The first of two supervised independent Masters project subjects involving detailed research in/of a topic to be chosen in consultation with the relevant discipline supervisor. This subject focuses on the preparation and design of that research, and must be taken prior to HUMN610 Masters Research Project 2. The specific nature of the project, the methods of research and the submission format will be determined in consultation with a discipline supervisor and may include professionally orientated tasks or components.

You won't be able to enrol into this subject if you've already successfully completed or currently enrolled in the following subject(s) as they are considered anti-requisites due to the similarity of the content.

Students must have completed at least 100CP in one of the following courses to enrol in this unit:

* Master of Human Rights; or
* Master of Information Science (Extended).
Students in the Master of Information Science (Extended) are also required to have completed or be concurrently enrolled in INF520 Research and Evaluation.
