About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- identify the International Baccalaureate philosophy and guiding principles.
- examine and present existing research relating to the International Baccalaureate programmes implemented in schools around the world.
- design learning experiences according to the relevant International Baccalaureate programme.
- apply the processes of evaluation and assessment to meet the needs of the International Baccalaureate philosophy.
- The nature of IB Programmes and the Learner Profile: International mindedness for individualised learning
- Beliefs and values of the IB contained in the Standards and Practice Guidelines
- Embedding quality: Inquiry-based learning into learning programmes
- Overview of the IB Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme
- Assessment approaches in IB programmes
This subject provides an overview to the key theories and principles relating to the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. There is a focus on the fundamental concepts, learner profile and holistic learning. Issues relating to curriculum planning and assessment will be examined.
