Introduction to English: Reading

About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. demonstrate knowledge of the elements of reading and their symbiotic relationship
    2. examine the social and cognitive processes of reading
    3. research and appraise theories of the teaching of reading and how they inform practice
    4. create systematic, explicit teaching, learning and assessment to develop the reading knowledge and skills of students across the full range of abilities and including EAL/D and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students

To enrol in this subject you must be accepted into one of the following degrees:

  • CUR-PRI-MAS-2024 - Master of Teaching (Primary Education)
  • CUR-EDP-GDI-2024 - Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary Education)
  • CUR-MTE-MAS-2024 - Master of Teaching (Early Childhood Education)
