About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- create a design concept that addresses the cultural and aesthetic aspects of the furniture product
- develop the design concept through a process and examine the functional, material and production techniques through 2D and 3D visualisation and prototypes
- create a prototype that utilises effective techniques of experimentation and making process
- communicate the design process and results verbally, visually, and through made objects.

This subject will provide an introduction to furniture design and its manufacturing processes. It provides a concise overview of the cultural history of furniture design and the design process. The subject will focus on research, key methods and concept development, ergonomics and anthropometrics, innovation in materials and sustainability, components and structures, design documentation and prototyping.
