Architecture & construction careers

Studying architecture and construction will equip you with sought-after skills and lead to plenty of dynamic, highly paid career possibilities.

Where graduates work:

Depending on the course you choose, you may find a role on a construction site—as a manager, supervisor, or surveyor—in urban planning, as an interior designer, or as a registered architect.

If you want to become an architect:

To legally work as an architect in Australia, you need to complete a few steps.

  1. Complete an accredited undergraduate architecture course, such as those offered through Open Universities Australia.
  2. Undertake an accredited masters degree, also offered through OUA.
  3. Pass your Architectural Practice Exam (APE) and register with your state or territory’s architectural board.
