This subject introduces you to system analysis and design with Object-oriented (OO) modelling techniques for software system engineering. System Analysis and Design

The technology-driven worlds of science and engineering are increasingly integrated with computer science and its applications. Having high-level quantitative skills and the ability to keep pace with new developments in programming can help you to stand out in your career.  This subject introduces you to fundamental programming concepts, including conditional branching, looping and recursion, and you will learn to program in a high-level programming language.  Studying the algorithms used for common tasks in numerical analysis, you will explore solving linear equations, interpolation, root finding, curve fitting, numerical integration, random numbers and Monte Carlo methods, and numerical solutions to ordinary differential equations.  Throughout the subject, hands-on quantitative problems relevant to the sciences and engineering will allow you to hone your problem-solving skills.

Computational Mathematics

This subject is an introduction to mobile application development, including programming paradigms, models, technologies and platforms. The unique considerations for programming with mobile devices will be studied, including application architectures, mobile user interface issues, context-aware computing, the use of mobile sensing, middleware, mobile data management, and programming with wireless connections. Development of a range of mobile and wearable form factors will be discussed, from smartphones, to tablets of varying sizes. You will select one major platform as their specialisation to develop applications and implement their major programming assignment.

Mobile Application Development

Creating websites that scale to serve hundreds of millions of users with acceptable response times is challenging. The main focus of this subject is on cloud computing concepts and tools needed to make websites scalable. This subject assumes the fundamental web technologies have already been taught in the prerequisite subjects. The subject will cover topics in the cloud computing concept and technologies, such as cloud repository, virtualisation, the framework for frontend and backend development, API, web server storage, and the management of application development (CI/CD) This subject will also cover the fundamental of cloud computing platform and its features.

Cloud-Based Web Application

This subject covers a range of important algorithms and data structures. Data structures for implementing containers are covered and include linear structures, tree structures and hash tables. Algorithms for insertion and deletion of elements, and algorithms for searching and sorting on these structures are covered where appropriate. Graphs and graph algorithms are also covered. Students will learn the construction and workings of the data structures and algorithms covered. They will learn to analyse the effectiveness of each data structure and algorithm for specific problems and categories of problems. Students will also implement in programs a wide range of the structures and algorithms covered.
